::: FOOTWEAR: Please ensure that you have indoor shoes. Absolutely no street shoes in the studio. You can wear shoes with leather or suede soles (or skip the shoes and wear fuzzy socks) so you can pivot. Make sure the shoes stay on your feet easily (no mules or slingbacks) so that you can walk backwards.
::: WHAT SHOULD I WEAR? Comfortable clothing that do not restrict your movement. Layers are recommended.
Argentine Tango Class Etiquette:
:: Please arrive 10 minutes earlier to prepare for the class. We start on time. If you are running late, please enter the room quietly.
:: Please have your cell phone on the silent ring mode once the class starts.
:: Do not chat while the teacher is talking to the group.
:: Your breath is important. Please carry gum or mints. If you don’t have any, we’ll be happy to share ours, just ask!
:: Wear a freshly laundered top. Tango is danced in close embrace and any sweat, cooking or other odours can be unpleasant to your dance partner.
:: If you are sweating a lot, please wear light layers so that you can remove them after the warm up (sweat in unavoidable sometimes, but can be managed).
:: If you are wearing parfume, please do so in moderation. Too much parfume can irritate your dance partner.
:: If you are coughing or sneezing due to a cold virus it is advisable not to risk passing it to your classmates by dancing with them.
:: Wear pants/skirts which allow easy movement. Ladies: ankle length skirts or pants/ skirts with excessive fabric do not work.
:: Shoes: please change into a pair of shoes with clean bottoms, that were not worn on the way to the studio. Leather or suede shoes only. Runners/ rubber sole shoes are not allowed on the dance floor.
:: Do not teach or correct your partner. Instead look for improvements in yourself. Teachers are here to answer any questions or help you with difficulties. Correction from the teacher is a normal part of the class and only helps with your improvement.
:: Photography and videos are only allowed with the permission of the teachers.
:: If you want to see a noticeable improvement in your dancing, attend the weekly Sunday Practica at the Polish Hall from 8pm to 10pm, where we can help you with your dancing.
:: If you feel uncomfortable during the class in any way, please come and talk to us in person or send us an email. We want you to feel happy, safe and enjoy every moment of the class.
:: We all move forward at a different pace. Be patient with yourself, give yourself time, enjoy the dancing and good things will come.
